St Andrews FC U6’s at FC United

On Saturday February 22nd St Andrews FC U6 squad were invited by FC United to join them as lucky mascots for their game versus Ilkeston. 20 players from the U6 squad plus 3 older brothers from other St Andrews teams, enjoyed a tour of Gigg Lane before the game, and ran a particularly quick lap of the pitch. The boys then waited in the tunnel to walk out with the FC United and Ilkeston players, and also the referee!

Following the pre match handshake the boys joined parents and grandparents in the Directors area for what proved to be a very enjoyable game, a 4-1 victory for FC United.

All the boys enjoyed their experience, and it gave them a taste of what it is like to be a footballer, walking out of the tunnel in front of a crowd of 1,800 people! I am sure it will result in more focused training sessions moving forward!

A link to the match is below showing the boys leaving the tunnel with the players.
